fugue_state.whisk is an experimental animation blending traditional drawing and painting techniques with 3D generated images and movements. Inspired by the noticeable demand for and proliferation of animated media in the wake of the pandemic’s restrictions upon the production industry, the film adopts a commodified aesthetic illustrating the reality of working through a pandemic while alluding to the underlying surreality of grappling with a world rapidly in flux.
Playful and unassuming, it ends on an optimistic note; in spite of isolation, new pathways of togetherness can and will grow.
Commissioned by the City of Vancouver Platforms: We Are Here Live Public Art Program, fugue_state.whisk screens on the Granville and Robson public art screens throughout the month of August.
